Types Of Spots To Look For
Spring and fall are the two main times of the year when redfish will school up in large numbers and hunt in the shallows.
Most of the time, redfish of 28 inches or more will be investigating nearshore reefs in large schools.
The key to finding the spots these fish will most likely be is to look for outside areas with a lot of structure with quick and easy access to a steady food source.
Areas with moving water and any signs of life are worth checking out.
These fish will most likely NOT be pushed way back into backwater creeks and streams.
Using the Smart Fishing Spots platform, you can use the Oyster Beds and Sea Grass feature to immediately find spots worth checking out.
The ability to see the oyster beds underneath the water BEFORE you head out there is a huge bonus.
You can effectively plan your trip and pick spots that are most likely to hold schools of redfish.
