Live Shrimp Rig:
- Rod: 7’6 Medium Power Fast Action
- Reel: 2500-3000 size spinning reel
- Line: 10lb PowerPro Braid
- Leader: 15lb Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon
- Hook: 1/0 Circle Hook
If fish see too much going on in your rig, they won’t bite the hook.
When you’re fishing tight to docks, bridges, and similar structure, the rig shown above is the way to go.
You’ll want to go with a light line and small hooks.
Hook size depends on the size of the shrimp you’ve got.
First, pinch the tail of the shrimp off – just the fan section.
This helps release scent from the shrimp and keeps it alive.
Slide the hook through one side of the body and out through the other.
Not only does this rig release more scent, but it also is easier to cast the shrimp farther using this method.
