It seems like you’d have more hook exposure if it was point down, since the weight of the hook will make it sink a little. This makes a larger effective gap if the point is down, and smaller gap if the point is up.

Garrett, Thanks for the response

I have tried the VMC’s and they’re great hooks but in some applications like the bigger topwaters the VMC’s are lighter and the lure will sit a little higher in the water. Which can be advantageous in certain situations I like the lower to sit lower if possible.

Yes sir! I’ve actually done some experimenting with putting a size larger in the rear to bring the back of the lure down. That has increased the hook up ratio with redfish.

There definitely could be some species variation in the effectiveness. Thanks for posting the tip!

I wish they would put some sort of industry standard on hook sizes to make it easier but I doubt that will ever happen.

Thanks for watching!

3/0 for the Super Spook, front and middle point forward and the rear backwards. To be honest a lot of times I will remove the middle hook entirely

Thanks for watching!

Without seeing the lures it’s hard to say, but a #2 would be where I start.

Thanks for watching!
