What do you think of when you think about fishing for grouper?
Do you think about going offshore, spending lots of money on gas, and using heavy tackle?
If that’s you, this podcast episode with Todd Foucher is going to rock your world.
Todd Foucher is a former Tampa Bay Inshore Fishing guide and he’s been absolutely crushing it with inshore gag grouper and snapper.
He’s catching them year-round, with light tackle, and has had lots of 100-fish days.
Sound too good to be true?
He’s got the videos and pictures to prove it!
In this episode, Todd is sharing:
- What type of spots to look for when targeting inshore grouper and snapper
- His favorite tides for catching them (it’s the complete opposite of what he prefers for inshore snook and redfish)
- The two pieces of technology that he invested in that have helped skyrocket his grouper and snapper fishing game
- The top 3 baits that inshore grouper can’t resist (you’ll never guess these)
- The rigs and tackle he uses for these fish
- The biggest mistakes fishermen make when trying to catch snapper and grouper
- And much more!

Crazy Good! I’ve listened to you before and been to your site. You said you used 10 pound line with 20 pound leader. Is that what you were doing in this video? Seems you were putting more than 10 pounds of ump on it than 10 pound line would handle. Thanks for the video, instructions, what you used, and the bait. I want to see more today so heading for your site again. Thanks one more time.
How were you guy’s anchored? Trolling motor?
What was the three best bait he mentioned. I did not recognize any of them.
We typically use, whitebait, threadfins and pinfish. Some other good baits are spadefish, pigfish and mojarras.
40 ft isn’t shallow in my world. We catch them in 6 to 8 ft. Check out my Saltstrong post for some pics.
We have a bunch of spots in 10-12ft also!
AWESOME CATCHING!!!!!!! NOTICED ON YOUR CAMERA SHOT OF THE BOTTOM WHERE YOU WERE FISHING WAS OVER A SPRING OR
ARTICIAN WELL AREA WHERE IT APPEARED THAT WATER WAS COMING OUT OF THE GROUND. WAS THAT YOUR SPECIAL FISHING SPOT?
IS THAT SOMETHING WE SHOULD LOOK FOR AND CONCENTRATE ON FINDING?
No that is just the tide moving the water around. We are fishing the edges of the shipping channel.
Noticed your shirts and the return location. As I purchased a ROUNDABOUT about 18 months ago, I am a fan but didn’t see any at the dock. Just Kyacks! Still selling them I hope. Enjoy mine emensley and hope they are still in production!
Hi Chet, yes we are still selling them! Thanks
why can I only listen on other sites, ridiculous
There’s a play button on this page that will enable you to listen to it here… it’s right above the black boxes that have links out to those other platforms (some people prefer to use those other ones, so we have to include those too).
awesome!
Luke and Joe have been leaving them behind on a few docks lately…. 😀
Just letting them get bigger for when their season opens:)
