The entire purpose of this video is to show you the types of spots you should look for right now.

No matter where you are across the country, the same principles will hold true.

If you find the feeding fish, then you will get tight lines.

What We Need To Look For

The first thing on the list is structure.

The more structure in an area, the better.

If you can find a point, seagrass, or oyster beds in one area, that is a great place to start.

Another thing to take into account is wind direction.

During the summertime, we want to fish on wind-driven shorelines.

Temperatures are up and the fish feel it too so they are searching for cooler waters.

Wind-driven shorelines nearest open water provide exactly that.

The last thing to take into account is bait.

If you can combine all of this in one area, that makes up the ultimate summertime fishing spot.

More than likely, these types of areas will hold the feeding fish we are after.

Fish Behavior Patterns

During the winter months, fish will move into coves and backcountry areas because they warm up the quickest when the sun rises.

They prefer to have an outlet to deep water as well where temperatures are a bit more stable.

The opposite applies in the summertime.

Fish don’t want warm water, instead, they want cool water.

These fish will move out of the coves and onto the outside edges of flats or spoil islands.

This is why you should start looking for spots in the direction the wind is blowing.

The same concept holds true in marsh creeks connected to nearby intracoastal waterways.

Fish will push out of the marsh creeks as temperatures warm to hold near the ICW that is bringing in cool, ocean water.

The Best Fishing Spots During The Summertime

In summary, we need to first find all different types of structure in the summertime.

The more structure the better in a combined area.

Oyster beds, seagrass, and points are areas that will hold the most fish.

The best types of spots will be facing directly into the wind which brings cool water and more oxygen to the fish.

If you find bait in these areas, then you’ve hit a home run and that is the ideal summertime spot.

More often than not, when you do catch fish, people will ask you where you caught fish and what lure did you catch it on?

While gear and tackle are important, it is not nearly as important as finding the right types of spots.

If you don’t find where the fish are feeding, then it doesn’t matter what lure you’re using.

If you’re new to Salt Strong, this is exactly what we do.

We have the Smart Fishing Spots platform along with countless videos and resources to help you find the feeding fish quicker while also saving money on tackle and gear.

The goal is to catch MORE fish in LESS time and save money while doing it.

question. How far will they move? Or will they just find the coolest water in an area? For example.. I fish a river that certainly has its shallow areas, but gets down as deep as 14-15 ft. There are docks… But few go out to the deeper water (usually 5ft deepish) I’m sure you probably know the area.. Eau Gallie river, where all the yachts and marinas are is deep. But …. I cant buy a snook there. Tarpon are everywhere tho.
