It truly is about the WHOLE THING and not just about the smart spots! You nailed it when you said the angler found out it was their technique that was making them struggle. IM LEARNING EVERYDAY !!

I got a boat hit the inshore, I had no clue, I wanted redfish. I wasn’t fishing too long and somehow I saw a course on Redfish.. I bought it and I was introduced to Salt Strong. Joe, I studied the course.. no smart fishing spots, it was just learning the seasonal trends what to look for to find fish.. the gear how to retrieve lures… everything I needed to know, the basics. Long story short.. all newbies, forget about smart spots learn all the basics. Smart spots is a tool it’s not going to find you fish. It is a sophisticated map tool that can help direct you where to start and have a plan. It’s all the basics that will get you the fish. The community/network will tip you off to what the trend is in your area, I remember early on before the smart spots, Luke was teaching us how to do map study on Bing or Google. On the water… the 3 “B’s”… look for life, smart spots will not tell you where to life.. forage is.. it helps. So the order of importance… 1) the courses, 2) know seasonal trends, 3) understand the seasonal cycles of your target species, 4) follow the community search out the intel that will set you in the right direction. Put it all together to make a plan using the smart spot map. For me that’s the order the last thing is the smart spot map… it’s really cool and helpful, it’s a fantastic tool. But I can’t start there and be successful. Thank you… you made me an inshore fisherman… far from expert but way more advanced from where I began.
