I have heard about how great the flounder fishery is up there, so I was hoping to hook into a big one. We were actually planning to fish all the way to the inlet at first, but the wind was just getting way too strong to enable that to happen. The guys I was fishing with were from out of the area too, so we all unfortunately didn’t have any local knowledge of the area so had to learn some lessons the hard way… I’ll def not fish the south end of that bay again at low tide because it all seemed to be very shallow (under 12 inches for most of it).

I noticed the guy you met up with at your last spot had a hobbie peddle kayak that’s what I have although I haven’t used it in a few years because I fell in love with my Carolina skiff but I still keep it ready your buddy who took you to your spits should of had you guys launch at the lighthouse dock there is plenty of deep water and docks there you might of had a better chance at a redfish If you fished there I’m sure you saw the lighthouse it was visible in your first spot video there is a lot of shoaling there and around the st Augustine area especially where you were at being so close to the ocean inlet and as far as flounder st Augustine is known for them especially when they run in the spring and fall great video!

I understood your intentions on the earlier comment… just wanted to leave the reply for those who are in different regions to trust the core fish finding strategies because the #1 concern we have from people being hesitant to join is that they don’t believe the lessons apply to them because they are fishing a different area.

And I’ll totally admit that I didn’t realize how transferable the lessons were until we started getting feedback from anglers in much different areas like the Carolinas and over in TX. It has been so cool to see how similar the same species of fish behave regardless of which region they are in.

Oh I agree Luke I wasn’t saying or haven’t been saying that your tactics don’t work here I just am glad that you realized on how different it is here in northeast fl compared to where you fish the majority of the time thanks for the feedfback????

The environment is very different between up there and central FL, but the same fish finding strategies and lures can def work in both regions.

My wife loves St. Augustine, but I have never fished it and plan to in the near future after seeing this video. Thank you. Best, Al
