New PINK Lure Vs Slam Shady (On The Water Without A Trolling Motor)

http://new%20lure%20tested%20on%20live%20podcast

This is a FUN on the water live podcast!

Why?

Because we were up against something that happens to all of us over time…

A dead trolling motor with little wind and not much current.

So what did we do?

We posted up on the edge of a flat (where it meets a channel) and tried to make the best of a tough day.

There was even a little face-off action between the new pink F.R.E.D. lure versus the Slam Shady jerk shad from Z-Man.

Tune in to see how it all goes!

Hey guys, first post here. Love the site. I don’t have access to a trolling motor, so I’m trying to figure out the best ways to compensate for this. Drifting like you did in this video seems like a good option if the conditions are right, but here in Charleston the water is often moving so fast that that would be difficult.

Are the downsides to anchoring and casting to good spots mainly that you are limiting the number of spots you can fish? Or is it that the anchor and big motor are scaring the fish off? Or both? To the latter point, if I kill the motor far off and then drift into the anchor spot and quietly anchor, should that address the problem? Thanks!

Hey I have friends from Minnesota area and when the fish for walleye or muskies they will do the figure 8 at the side of the boat maybe that will cause a strike at the side of the boat

Ha, that is a awesome spot and that manatee is always there. I float the flats at that channel all the time. Biggest trout I have ever caught was at that first shallow water marker to the right of where you were fishing. 28″

Can’t wait for the Mud Hole suggestions. I build all my rods and get everything from them. They are a supper company to deal with.

I’ve had to work on motorguides and minn Kota equally. Lately I prefer the Minn Kota products. They seem to take a little more wear and tear and customer support is excellent. There are my two cents y’all.

I have a motor guide Xi5 36v 105# that was purchased in 2015. It’s been rock solid and abused. Only issue is lanyard breaking off from the remote but I fixed that with a bolt and silicon through the back cover. Hands down an excellent purchase. Love it.

I watch y’alls 5-10 minute Facebook videos, where the magic of editing makes it look like you catch a fish on every cast. This video is refreshing because it shows you putting in the work, cast after cast, crap conditions and earning those hard bites. It reminds me that I’m not doing anything wrong when I don’t catch 14 fish in 5 minutes and 35 seconds.

I went against convention and went with Rhodan 24V 54″ for my older 22′ Pathfinder. I haven’t used it a ton, but it is powerful, and the GPS spot lock appears very accurate. The remote is MUCH smaller than the Min Kotas and simpler as well. I find I can operate it without looking at the remote. I like that it actually has a reverse vs turning the motor 180 deg. to go backward.

I’d give them a look. They’re out of Sarasota so I had to have mine shipped to Texas
